Very nice Bloomsday, but more storms coming

After more thunderstorms filled the skies yesterday, we’ll catch a break today. Skies will cloud up through the day, but the weather should remain dry. Temperatures will warm into the 50s and 60s today so it should be a very nice Bloomsday.

changes arrive tomorrow as the next powerful storm comes in from the west, and what a storm it looks to be! Steady rain will begin to spread into the area through the day tomorrow. This is generally just the light-moderate rain you would find with storms like this. a powerful cold front will advance through and will likely result in moderate-heavy rain through Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. No thunder is expected with this, but intense winds will roar in from the west. In fact it will be WINDY! sustained winds of 30-45mph are possible with gusts as high as 60, maybe even 70! If those strong winds were to occur, power outages will be a concern. It will be getting pretty nippy too with these winds so make sure you’re stocked up on supplies just in case the power goes out. Rain amounts will be pretty high with this storm. The forecast calls for .25-.75″ of rain. Don’t be surprised though to go over 1″ due to the showers behind it.

The wind will begin to slowly die off as we move into Tuesday, but the weather will remain showery. 500mb temps fall to around -30c or colder which will support rapid development of showers when daytime heating begins on Tuesday. This showery weather looks to persist through the extended. Looking for more thunderstorms? Here’s a broken down forecast:

Tuesday—-LI’s 0c, SBCAPE 250j/kg——————— slim risk of thunderstorms (10%)

Wednesday LI’s -1c, SBCAPE 500j/kg——————– 40% chance of thunderstorms

Thursday– LI’s -4c, SBCAPE 1000j/kg—————— 70% chance of thunderstorms

Friday—– LI’s -3c, SBCAPE 500j/kg——————– 50% chance of thunderstorms

Saturday– LI’s +1c, SBCAPE 100j/kg——————– 0% chance of thunderstorms
