Today and tomorrow-
Ridge of high pressure has built back into the Pacific Northwest this morning following a cold front overnight. Dry and mild air will be in place for today and tomorrow so expect dry weather with partly-mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will be in the 40s.
Thursday through Sunday-
A cold front will dive in from the northwest bringing cold weather. Ahead of the front, precipitation is likely to develop, but mild air in place will make most of this fall in the form of rain for even the highest peaks. Once the front passes, snow levels will plummet down into the valleys, but the precipitation will be over by then with a ridge of high pressure building in from the west. Rainfall amounts will be around a tenth of an inch.
Ridge of high pressure will hold firm through Sunday then the next storm will approach. Temperatures will be in the 40s.
Monday and Tuesday-
The next storm will slide through bringing the next round of the precipitation. Again, mild air in place will mean rain for all elevations. Rainfall amounts will be around a tenth of an inch. Colder air will invade again by Monday night, but the precipitation will be over and the next ridge will build in from the west. Dry weather will return by Tuesday with temperatures surging back into the 40s.
Extended Outlook-
The current weather pattern looks to persist into Mid January with no big snow storms anywhere in sight.
I’m sorry Andyidaho, when I commented last I should of told you where I was from. The foot and a half of powder I rode in was at Grassy Lake east of Ashton here in southeast Idaho. I don’t think I can remember a start to winter so mild and lacking precipitation like this one has. Most of us here in southeast Idaho, are pretty discussed with the weather, and are keeping our fingers crossed for an actual change to a long term wet pattern, Snow!

Oh ok, I thought your name looked familiar. For that area it’s looking like perhaps mid month, like 10 days from now for big snow there. The models have been suggesting an arctic blast with a strong storm during that time frame for the last several days. Time will tell.
